The memory market is showing a divergence between retail and enterprise pricing. While DDR5 modules have become more accessible in certain regions, Samsung continues to secure higher contract prices from large-scale buyers.
Reports indicate a 30% increase in contract pricing compared to the previous quarter, signaling strong demand from AI-driven data centers. These facilities rely heavily on high-bandwidth memory, which reduces the production allocation available for consumer-grade DRAM.
Although retail demand for PCs and consoles has cooled, long-term supply agreements remain tight. Industry observers note that contract pricing often reflects future expectations rather than current spot market conditions. As a result, consumers may not see immediate relief in device pricing, particularly for laptops and smartphones.
