Search is becoming less about sending users to websites and more about supplying information directly inside AI-generated answers. That shift is quietly changing the value of platforms such as Reddit and YouTube.
Reddit benefits from millions of conversations containing product experiences, recommendations and problem-solving discussions. YouTube brings another advantage: demonstrations, reviews and tutorials that provide AI systems with rich contextual information.
For marketers, this means traditional SEO is no longer sufficient. A brand can rank well and still lose visibility if an AI assistant answers the consumer before a click happens.
The strategic response is to create useful information across the platforms where AI systems already look for evidence. Authentic discussions, expert explanations and customer experiences may ultimately influence AI recommendations more than polished advertising.
The emerging competition is therefore not simply for search rankings. It is for inclusion in the answer itself.
