Meta’s Threads has officially overtaken X on mobile daily usage. New stats from Similarweb show Threads with 141.5 million daily mobile users versus X’s 125 million. The rise is attributed more to steady growth and feature expansion than recent scandals surrounding X’s AI tool, Grok.

Cross-promotion across Facebook and Instagram plays a major role. Users are introduced to Threads via familiar Meta channels, while the app continues rolling out new features like DMs, disappearing posts, long-form content, and even casual games.

X remains strong on desktop. With roughly 145 million daily web visits, X still has a solid presence online. However, mobile habits are increasingly decisive in social networking battles.

Market watchers note that Meta’s push could reshape social app dynamics. Threads’ growth trajectory shows how an app can become a daily habit, especially when integrated with a larger ecosystem and marketed to creators.

The coming months will reveal whether X can regain momentum on mobile or if Threads will solidify its lead. Either way, mobile-first engagement has emerged as the main battlefield in the social media landscape.
