Web3, including revealing coverage of identified, NFTs, cryptography and the metaverse, is becoming noticeable bringing attention to groups of companies. Even Universal Music Group (UMG) hired an executive responsible for promoting its Web 3.0 business, Richard Cusick, who joined the music company as Global E-Commerce Product Director.
According to UMG, Cusick has developed a product team that is committed to delivering on UMG’s business goals in that it defines “innovative e-commerce products and experiences, Web3.0, and initiatives targeted at established artists and fans.”
Cusick’s experience in the music industry began at Gemstar-TV Guide (now Xperi), where he led business development and digital media.
He subsequently managed entertainment and lifestyle properties at Yahoo!, including Yahoo! Music.
UMG says Cusick also has a “track record of innovation” and has led major product organizations, including serving as chief product officer for Gracenote.
Cusick said: “Music has a unique ability to cross borders, cultures and languages, creating vibrant global fan communities.
“UMG is already a leader in creating immersive products and experiences for its artists to engage with their fans around the world, and I look forward to working with Richelle and the senior leadership team to help maintain this track record of excellence and ensure growth”.
